residential care

We offer residential care that provides a happy and comfortable home with no worry about food, personal care, or domestic chores. Here, everything is provided and included. Residential care is more suited to those residents who require less “enabling” support and are generally more self-caring but just need a little help with the activities of daily living.

Here at Field House we aim to support residents with living their lives to the full extent of their capabilities. We provide a safe and happy place where they are able to thrive, make friends and explore new interests.

Residents are encouraged to bring with them small pieces of furniture, pictures, ornaments and decorations, all the things that will make them feel comfortable in their new home.

Our dedicated activity co-ordinator will discuss likes and dislikes, your hobbies and interests, making sure that the activities and outings we offer will be how you like to spend your time.

We want to help you to enjoy life knowing that there is always someone to help, to listen, to talk to, and always things to do and see. We have daily housekeeping service removing the worry about housework. Our chefs take pleasure in producing delicious healthy meals and snacks, and the amazing gardens and grounds are there for you to enjoy.

The staff made my father feel part of a family. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Well done, keep up the good work.

Specialist Dementia care

  • Quiet and Calm home from home environment
  • Quiet lounges
  • Access to safe and secure courtyard and gardens
  • Jane Pye (manager) is Registered Mental Nurse with vast experience - Specially trained and very experienced staff
  • Home for life – we will do everything humanly possible to ensure residents can stay at Field House even if there are big changes in their needs

The Coach House and Cottage of the Field House estate is where we provide the more specialised care that Dementia and Alzheimer’s require. We understand the challenges of living with Dementia, both for the residents themselves and for their families and friends. You can rest assured that we will always be on hand to help  ensure residents can still enjoy independence and lead happy, healthy lives. Our staff within our dedicated Dementia unit have specific training and specialised skills in Dementia care to provide the highest quality care to residents with complex and changing needs.

The Cottage and Coach House have a warm, homely and, as the name suggests, an almost Cottage like feel, unlike many dementia homes that can sometimes be seen as sterile and unwelcoming. It is a calm and safe environment with interactive activity areas, designed to provide stimulation and comfort.

We believe that high quality care is not just about personal care, great food, safe medication and professional healthcare. It is a holistic approach supporting residents to live as full and active a life as possible and as they wish to. We provide a wide range of activities suitable for each resident and  encourage family and friends to be an active and every day part of the Field House community.

Palliative care

  • Field House is a resident’s home for life so palliative care is something we naturally do
  • Our staff have great expertise in Palliative care and are very well trained
  • We have great relationships with GP, Practise nurse, District Nurses etc all of whom are incredibly supportive especially when it comes to Palliative care
  • We encourage visitors at any time and if required we can make it possible for relatives to stay overnight
  • I would like to say that "we ensure residents have a good death" but feel that is too blunt – if you can think of a softer / better way of phrasing it then great
Palliative care

Our palliative care plan is for residents with terminal illness close to the end of their journey. Dealing with things such as pain and other physical symptoms is important, but palliative care at Field House also looks at the person’s wellbeing, their physical and emotional condition is just as important. Our goal is to achieve the best quality of life for residents and their families during a difficult but very important time.

Together with the support of district nurses, we offer comforting help and support not only to residents, but also to family and friends as they face this unique challenge.

I am delighted with all aspects of my husband’s care. Everyone appears to take good care of him and the carers are very friendly and helpful. The food is good. No complaints!

Respite and day care

  • Day care services enabling you to enjoy the same care and services as our long term residents
  • High quality care and support for those who require a brief period of help
  • An experienced and dedicated caring team
  • Indulge in delicious and nutritional home cooked meals and excellent facilities
respite care

Respite, or short stay care, is provided for those residents who require a brief period of help. It could be because you need extra support after an illness or operation, or because your usual carer is not available. Whatever the reason, how we treat our short term stay residents is no different to how we care for our longer term residents. Our respite residents like our permanent residents will be looked after by our dedicated and caring team to the highest standards, and will enjoy a wide variety of social and leisure activities. They can indulge in our delicious and nutritional home cooked meals and enjoy all our facilities and benefits.

It is an opportunity to meet new friends and explore new interests, and also to use it as a trial stay if you are unsure about whether to move into a care home or not. It is not unusual for our respite residents, having first tried a short term stay at Field House, to join us on a more permanent basis.

We also offer a day care service. This can be an activities day for your loved one, where they participate in all the great things we do here, like craft, ball games, bingo, and cards, or a personal care day. This is a great option for those who may be struggling with hygiene, like washing or bathing. The price of daycare starts from £75, and includes two meals, most usually from 10am to 6am, though this can be discussed with our home manager.

Couples care

  • A number of very large rooms which can accommodate double beds or two singles and some even have space for a ‘living’ area
  • There can be the option for two adjoining single rooms
  • Care plans, staffing and activity plans recognise often very different capabilities and interests of both people
  • Large building and extensive grounds mean plenty to do for even the most active person
  • Proactive support and encouragement to maintain family links with ALL generations
Couples care

Very few care homes provide accommodation or specific care for couples. The Main House at Field House has a number of extremely large rooms which are ideal for couples, lending themselves to having a double bed or two singles and also used as day sitting rooms. All of these rooms have full en-suites and have lovely views across the 10 acres of parkland gardens. The wide variety of communal rooms and spaces at Field House coupled with easy and safe access to the grounds means that couples with very differing interests and capabilities, can have quasi-independent lifestyles whilst living together in a loving and happy community. Our goal is to ensure that both partners have a lifestyle that exceeds their individual and joint wishes /expectations.

Additionally we do want a move to Field House to feel like a barrier to the family. Quite the contrary , Field House is a community and we actively encourage all generations of family members (and their pets!) to visit as frequently as possible and at any time , to join in with events at the Home and to use the facilities for their own family events e.g. birthdays, anniversaries…
