Field House facilities page

Field House is in a beautiful location in the countryside between Stourbridge and Kidderminster overlooking the Clent Hills. The whole estate is set in 10 acres of beautiful grounds with a unique ‘Italian Garden. The main building is Grade ll listed, first built in 1750. The elegant, stately home then gives way to a more quaint and comfortable Cottage Annex and Coach House towards the back of the grounds.

Both the Main House and the Coach House and Cottage are linked and fully integrated with one another for efficiency. Having these separate areas means that we are able to take great care when assessing a resident’s care needs and ensure that their accommodation is appropriately placed within a setting that best meets their care needs and therefore ensures increased wellbeing.

Our care home is registered for a total of 54 residents. Although the estate is grand and set in extensive grounds, it still manages to retain it’s intimate charm. It’s a happy community in the countryside unlike many purpose built homes situated in semi industrial urban areas. Our aim is to provide all residents with comfortable and well appointed accommodation, whilst at the same time providing high quality and person centred care in a homely secure and caring environment.

The Main House

In the Main House we cater for residents who are frail with this area being led by Elizabeth Bull. Liz works alongside the management team to ensure that all residents have their needs and wishes met as required.  We carry out regular detailed assessments for all of our residents to ensure we meet their individual needs. All assessments are confirmed in writing, carefully discussed and reviewed by our team, and unique care plans are formulated according to the resident’s individual care needs and requirements.

There are a wide variety of rooms available, from well equipped and furnished single rooms to luxury apartments for couples. Our care home is fortunate in its settings and location and the majority of rooms have stunning views out onto the countryside or the picturesque grounds.

We have a cinema room with a large screen TV which is extremely popular amongst our residents. It is a great social space where they congregate with other residents, staff or family and friends, and enjoy a movie or DVD from our large collection.

Coach House and Cottage

The Coach House and Cottage is where we provide focussed attention for residents who need specialist Dementia care. This area is linked to the Main House, but can also be accessed via its own entrance. The rooms and communal areas in the Coach House and Cottage have a country style feeling, whilst having distinct areas with their own colourful personality. It is a safe and caring place for residents making their way along their own Dementia pathway. The lively and vibrant environment also provides residents with increased periods of wellbeing.

Our residents are at varying stages of Dementia journey, and all our staff are specifically trained to provide the most suitable and highest level of care to meet each individual’s needs. We deliver person centred care and ensure that all staff are familiar with each unique care plan. In the Coach House and Cottage you will often see items scattered around for the residents to touch, play and ‘fiddle’ with. This helps them find meaning within their day, and items such as twiddle mats, empathy dolls and tool kits help to provoke conversation and stimulate interaction.

Residents here receive the same loving, patient and professional care from unit lead Terri-Leigh and her team, just the same as in the Main House. Deprivation of Liberty safeguard applications are made for those that lack capacity to ensure that we are working within the legal frameworks when delivering care.

Stunning gardens

In total we have over 10 acres of beautiful gardens most of which is parkland and are great for walks (and also for grandchildren to play in and explore!). Our staff often accompany residents on walks around the grounds should they feel anxious or unsettled, this helps to reduce stress and promote health and wellbeing.

The ‘jewel in the crown’ will be the Italian garden, originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll, which is being replanted according to her plans, and will be soon returned to its former glory. There are also a number of smaller enclosed garden areas in which residents can take short walks or simply sit outside in complete safety.

Communal areas

As well as private rooms and boarding, Field House has a number of welcoming and comfortable communal spaces and living areas. Some of these spaces are large, some small, but all are for residents to enjoy and where they can socialise with each other, participate in activities, or simply find a quiet area for some quality time alone should they wish.

A warm, friendly community and environment

In addition to the care that we provide for our residents, we also offer an unparalleled community spirit and family-like atmosphere. To us, there is nothing more rewarding than hearing positive feedback from those we care for, and their family and friends. It is why we focus so much on building a high level of trust and providing emotional, physical and spiritual support.

We are keen to create a community feel within Field House, so as well as everyday care, we regularly organise events and have visitors at the home to bring a social aspect to the week, and to encourage residents to get to know one another. Family members and friends are always welcome at such events, so you can rest assured not only that every resident is well-looked-after but also that there is a vibrant social environment.

Dedicated and professional

We always ensure the home is properly staffed not just with carers but with housekeeping, domestic assistants, laundry, maintenance and kitchen staff. All of our staff are not only experienced but we also make a significant investment in training all staff (our training matrix is available for inspection at any time). We organise our staff deployments and shift patterns so staff support the same residents and build a close rapport with residents, not just offering familiarity and consistency but also developing a detailed knowledge of their needs and wishes.

Many homes say they deliver good quality care, we aspire to do much better than that – it is no wonder that we have so many positive testimonials and strong evidence that residents not only quickly adjust to their new surroundings but also thrive at Field House.
